The rear crank oil seals can be an issue.
The 2.5 can suffer from cylinder liner cracking; some 3.2 cylinder heads
can suffer cracking around the exhaust valves. All capacities of these
engines can experience inadequate oiling under some conditions, so maybe
there is more in common with a 928 than initially appears the case! ;-)
There have been some horrendous numbers bandied about regarding the number
of Boxster engine failures, but bear in mind that these engines - M96 and
M97 - were designed as a common platform for the Boxster and 911.
