This is both of no import but fascinating...!

I suggest the 912 was the nine one two even while the 911 was the nine eleven because 'nine eleven' is easier than repeating the 'one' in nine one one...

But is the 928 unique in being named differently in the UK (nine two eight) and the US (nine twenty eight)?  I think three digit Ferraris are all three digits everywhere - was the 275 ever a two seventy five?  Surely it sounds less proper, more informal?  And then there's the BMWs....
