It is worth pointing out that the PSD light would illuminate even when the actual system is not functioning.

You can get error messages for many reasons. To name but a few:

- faulty pump cannot build enough pressure in the accumulator
- air lock in the system fooling the solenoid valve
- faulty solenoid valve
- faulty pressure switch
- slave cylinder leaking into transaxle. not enough fluid, pump cannot built pressure. this should be part of the annual inspection. at the age our cars are, the seals are beginning to get very brittle. left for too long, it will destroy the gearbox.
- faulty ABS brain
- faulty ABS sensor
- faulty PSD relay in spare wheel well

Some of these can be diagnosed with the help of a Spanner or Hammer, but for others you would need your eyes and hands.

Hope this helps,

Alex

I mentioned this to Dr A on my next visit and he changed the ecu but it still switches itself off and it seems to happen at speeds around 60mph. (this may be coincidence), but I’ve never seen it happen at low speeds.
