I have been using this charger for a couple of years, with very satisfactory results.

It has even recovered a discharged motor cycle battery that been sitting around for a year. I was ready to dispose of it but thought I would connect it up and give it a go. Very pleasing!

I would always try this before buying a replacement battery. No guarantee that it will recover every battery of course, but you will always need a battery charger.
My justification for the expense was to 'buy once, buy wisely'.
