[928uk] Charge rates for Bosch Silver 7C

Does anyone have any thoughts on the best charge rate for a Bosch silver 7c that is too flat to crank the engine. The accumate maintainer won't touch it now, so I have a heavier duty charger lined up that indicates 8 amp fast charge 2.5amps slow charge rate.
The earth strap is disconnected during charging.

Here we go again My most recent problem was a poorly battery & a not so well charger I,m sure the battery is on its way to battery heaven & the charger cost me a £5 er off ebay I do have some quality chargers & batteries but in a different garage .The battery in question was on my shopping trolley Corsa but have changed it now .
I could write a book on Battery chargers which I have worked in yes that right IN . Theres nothing like a walk in battery charger to get the neck hairs prickling. Happy charging Ron

Hi,
The Accumate is an excellent charger, I have two of them and use them frequently on my bike and 928 batteries to keep them tip top. The charger comes with a flying lead you can leave connected to the battery so you don't need to dig the battery out of the car / bike. Extra flying leads are about £4.50 if you have several vehicles.
However they are not suitable to connect to your 928 if the battery is totally dead without disconnecting the battery from the car, this is because they can supply 18v when trying to revive a dead battery.
They are also low current (originally designed for bike batteries) so I use a "normal" charger initially on a very flat battery and then the Accumate to condition it.
I use one of these and it's very good, I can highly recommend it: http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/ring/rcb312-6-12v-12-amp-workshop-charger.aspx

Hi Ron,
I have been using this charger for a couple of years, with very satisfactory results.
http://www.accumate.co.uk/accumate.htm
It has even recovered a discharged motor cycle battery that been sitting around for a year. I was ready to dispose of it but thought I would connect it up and give it a go. Very pleasing!
See the FAQs below for the statement about suphated batteries.
http://www.accumate.co.uk/optiFAQ1.htm
I would always try this before buying a replacement battery. No guarantee that it will recover every battery of course, but you will always need a battery charger.
My justification for the expense was to 'buy once, buy wisely'.
Kindest regards,
Kevin

An old battery left flat for a week will be pretty stuffed, so for reliability I can understand Feisal wanting a new battery. Your problem sounds like it was the battery charger not recognising a flat battery as a battery. That is where a cheap basic battery charger is a good option. As for batteries which won't take any charge current, they often will if left on the charger long enough, but they probably will never be very good. I'm currently experimenting with a "desulphator", an electronic device which applies short high voltage pulses to clean up the lead plates. I'll report back when I know how well it works. Hi
Alas I left the interior light for a week and the battery was so dead even the AA were no good. I need to replace it. The one in there is a Bosch S3 007 . Any other thoughts?
Cheers
Feisal
