How many hours labour? If he replaced the idle stabilizer, that could 
easily be 8 hours, another 8 hours for the timing belt, and some more 
hours for diagnosis, so I think it would be difficult to argue that 20 
hours would be unreasonable.

The thrust bearing causing stalling is something that will have happened 
when the thrust bearing wear past a critical point, nothing to do with 
what was done, but a sign of lack of the correct maintenance over the 
entire life of the engine.
