I will be draining the oil too as will be replacing sump gasket, so pleased you mentioned that in case I ended up replacing the gasket, oil & filter then finding the filter in the way!

I'm sure when I put my engine mounts on I couldn't get the engine up high enough without taking the oil filter off? I'd buy a new one just in case? What's the worst that'll happen. Steve Jones sent me great photos of the route for the pipes. Use new copper crush washers and Banjo bolts, they were only about £5 from OPC I think?

Hi Geoff,

I had been using the car, but Saturday night used about 500 mls of fluid in less than 30 miles. After parking realised that if I was lost, just follow the trail! Smelled strongly too, so no more use until after rebuild as I don't want to run the pump dry or see her alight from hot ATF on the exhaust.

Any lessons learned or things you wished you had or hadn't done while performing the various related jobs?
