[928uk] Immbobiliser beeping

It’s one of those days!

You may recall that the car had starting issues - I’m now convinced that this is connected to an immobiliser issue.

The previous owner had the after-market immobiliser removed, however there must still be some form of immobiliser there…

Under normal circumstances, when the keys are removed from the ignition, and I press the lock button on the fob, a beeping sound can be heard either from the radio (a pioneer head unit), or from behind it.

If it beeps when locked, then upon unlocking, the car will always start.

If it doesn’t beep on locking, then having been unlocked the car won’t start.

The question is:

Is this beeping normal and a Porsche feature / factory immobiliser - or is it an after-market immobiliser/Pioneer radio somehow connected to the system?!

Can anyone cast any light or experience on this problem?
