Yeah I'd really like to do a dedicated track day there, wouldn't mind doing a bike only one too.. TF on a bike is an eye opener!! As you say in recent years the TF has got really busy, don't think I've had a clean lap in since about '08..
They've lifted the ban on cameras now though you don't have to hide them as you pass the barrier ..
Fair play to your parents for going.. Don't think I'd get mine to sit next to me on uk roads let alone a track.. lol
Cheers
Paul

On of the big draws of a track day rather than TF is that you get to take video's without resorting to surreptitious hand held style shenanigans by your mate. You also get a much safer environment, less traffic, more marshalls, free recovery, but you still have to pay an arm and a leg for damaged Armco.
I'm not saying I've given up doing TF laps, as it's really hard to resist the temptation when in the area (Spa, Zolder etc), but a track day is so much more civilised, and it's why I felt able to invite my 80 year old parents to join me (after my mum had been badgering me for an invite for years). I thought they'd have ticked that box after the first time in the 928 four years ago, but they've been back three more time since, the last being this July.

I can tell you that my slowest lap was two days later - 5 hours on MTBs cycling round the forest track that follows the circuit. We stopped several times en route to take pics of the VLN practice laps. The first leg from Adenau up to the Karussell is really hard work, but once again the weather was perfect. I don't think I'll ever try Rad Am Ring, that would be extremely embarrassing indeed.

I make that a 9:00 BTG.
Back in 1990 Gunther Stekonig lapped a full lap in 8:38 in a 928 GT with rear aircon. At present a S2 racer laps in 8:00 flat. Mark Chilton's GTS based racer, with my engine will lap in the very low 7s - 1220kg ready to race with 500bhp and 600Nm on Ohlins 3-way adjustable shocks.

I have to agree - and all that gassing at the wheel - nice multitasking.
Thanks for sharing this Paul, impressive skills - interested in what your / the best 928 time around the ring is?
