I'm not sure that piece of string would get to £20k even after rectification; history or lack of it is permanent, no matter what's spent. 

Bullet proof Gearbox replaced, must have had some abuse or poor/no maintenance.

Maybe worth a punt for someone with facilities to restore and keep, but not an investment vehicle.

My two pennies worth.
