As Alex hints, it is a question of what suits.

I chose an S4 auto because my wife only drives autos. Yes, mistake - she's never even say in the drivers seat!

I drive hard when alone and steady in company - more than happy with the auto most of the time but there are dead spots. These can be overcome with manual selection but it is clunky.

Not to say that I have not had immense fun in the car but my choice today would be a manual - unquestionable.

As we head to a gearless and probably silent future as far as auto tech is concerned - enjoy the beasts in manual format while you can  - or as we auto boys do, select 2 and hold that bit longer for 3rd to screw the max power out of them!
