[928uk] Suspension change- Round 1

Round 1 to me!  I couldn’t wait and curiosity got the better of me, I had to try and move the rear shock pins.  One removed and the other rotates easily.  Left side is missing a conical washer, no it isn’t on the floor or stuck in the hub carrier.  Whilst the PO have done me the good turn of greasing the pins, seems like a step was missed on reassembly.  Lesser of 2 evils though!

The rear nut was the one that turned first and came off, not sure how I can make it a positive choice between front and rear, so disc and dust shield had to come off to draw it forwards.  A few taps to getting it going then it could be pulled by hand and still has black grease on it.

Only casualty was a couple a dust shield bolts sheared.

I’d better start deciding on shocks and getting them ordered at this rate.

So it was you!!!  Had fun getting hold of a new lock nut myself and rang one OPC to be told that a 928 owner had rung up the day before and bought all the nuts he had..

In prep for changing shocks on my S4 I've been swatting up on the how to guides.  Acetone and ATF seem a popular home brew release agent, I've ordered new lock nuts for the rear pins which are use once items.  Will check the bushes and ball joints when I'm in there for potential replacements.
For the rear suspension pin twisting and levering are the methods of freeing up a seized pin I've come across.  I'd welcome experiences from  more UK members who's car has suffered the same corrosion.

Any other tips on tools required and handy access would be appreciated.
