That's good news that the pins were not stuck. 

I can't remember whether it's pulling it forward or towards rear, but in one direction it's less work to reassemble as you only pull the pin just far enough to clear the shock eye. The other way ends up being a bit of a faff to line things up.

Those machine screws on the brake shield are very prone to snapping, as so much crud thrown up in that location. Should have warned you earlier but combination of letting them soak in penetrant, heat from small torch and a good rap on the head (bolt, not your's) improves odds of getting them out in none piece dramatically.
