[928uk] Ignition Lock Problem - currently immobilised

Good morning all,

On my way to work in my 87 S4 Auto, stopped for petrol and when I returned I went to start the car as normal and while the key goes into the ignition lock without issue, it will not turn to start the car. 

It looks to have dropped a little in its housing (but it could have always been like this):

With the key out of the ignition the radio is still on and any attempt to turn clockwise or anti clockwise results in resistance after about 1mm of movement either way. 

The steering wheel still turns all round although it would seem that it catches on the steering lock but minimal force allows it to move round. 

Awaiting arrival of the AA but any guidance in the mean time would be appreciated.
