Dear fellow 928 lovers.
I hope the list doesn't mind this post, but I'd like to get as much
support as possible.
At the beginning of August I was knocked off my motorbike and run
over. Amazingly I survived without too serious injury, but my bike was
written off. Like many of you I have several vehicles, and
unfortunately a couple were due for insurance renewal shortly after
the crash. I lost my no-claims, had the premiums bumped and am
considerably out of pocket. The other side's insurance company have
admitted full liability in writing, but this is not sufficient to
reinstate my no claims or get a refund. Instead I must wait until the
claim is 'fully settled' which will take months if not longer due to
the need for my injuries to heal enough for the prognosis to be known
and a claim to be submitted and settled.
In law, a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty.
In insurance, both parties are considered guilty until liability is
settled. It is in the insurance companies' interest for this process
to take as long as possible to maximise their revenue at the expense
of their customers. I am campaigning for a change in the law so that
insurance companies treat both parties as innocent until blame is
established. Not only will this be fair and equitable, but it will
also ensure that insurance companies settle as soon as reasonable.
If you feel the same way, please sign my petition on change.org:

Thanks for reading and I hope I haven't offended anyone's sensibilities.
All the best
