I'd forgotten I bought a small solar panel from
Aldi, about £12; not entirely convinced, but stuck
on the windscreen in bright sunshine it casts a
shadow over the pod which is handy!

Have you considered a solar charger system if
you've got no mains power? You can get solar
chargers that directly trickle charge the battery,
or systems that properly incorporate maintenance
charging. If the car is in a garage then solar
panel can be mounted outside with an extension
wire.
