Get rid of it Mike !If this alarm is playing up (it's not original if it has brown wires) it can only get worse and as it's an unknown it is likely to give you a serious headache at exactly the wrong time.It shouldn't be difficult to systematically remove it and return the wiring to standard. Then if you need an alarm fit a new one - there's one I can recommend from Scorpion and I can send specific wiring diagram for your car, in fact I've made wiring diagrams for almost all 928's: S, S2, S4 / GT for this alarm. I've fitted several and never had an issue, one has been on Ron's car for about eight years (at a guess)

It seems I have two discrete issues, one being the re-appearance of a 2017 problem with cold and hot starting, I've done 4K miles fine since then. I'll deal with that in a different thread.
This one is about the alarm. I don't have a fob to press or insert in a plug however on occasion the horn has beeped. I think that's down to a bad door lock contact because sometimes opening the driver door doesn't open the passenger and when I go to start the alarm sounds. Could there be an immobiliser on this system too?The reason; I'd driven 5 miles left it for 20 minutes and it started normal but died so it needed full throttle to go (typical of not holding idle issue at start), went another couple of miles and left it for 90 minutes. This time the engine just span with no hint of firing. I cracked a fuel line and it was under pressure but not as much as I would expect or have seen before when I've done that shortly after shutting down. I did a battery reset, still the same. Then it occured to me that it was a bit like an immobilised condtion. I locked and unlocked the car, then it started but need a little throttle until it held its own after 10 seconds or so.
Behind the fuse board there is a small box with some brown wires that are crimped into the spades for the fuse holders and it has a fly lead with a two pin plug same as the ones to knock sensors. It doesn't look standard but has been wired in well. Mine is a Japanese car but not sure if that makes any difference.
I have a spare door contact so I think the next job could be to replace that at least.
Thoughts?
