[928uk] Timing belts and 45 degrees

Measure the spacing between 0 5 and 10 you should be able to make your own marks for 45 degrees !
But you need to make marks on the old sprockets before you remove them and copy onto new sprockets.
Fortunately it’s much easier to change your sprockets than a 32v engine as the valve timing isn’t adjustable.
One thing though is you might find the locking tool doesn’t engage properly at your calculated 45 point, you might need a tiny movement to get the teeth fully engaged, but make sure they are because if it suddenly jumps teeth when you have a lot of pressure on torque wrench it could be a brown trouser moment :-)

>> Paul is spot on except there’s no timing mark for 45 on a pre-S4 harmonic balancer (front pulley) but 20 degrees is there. I usually swap belt with crank locked on the 20 degree mark as this gives some safety although I wouldn’t try turning cams.
