928 For Sale and a Message of Thanks

Hope this advert doesn’t contravene list rules.

Due to a change in personal circumstances, I’m having to sell my 1988 928 S4 Auto which I have owned since 2008.

The car has been used both as a daily driver and as a second car during my ownership including completing two European trips. I would say it’s in good overall mechanical condition for its age with a nice linen interior; however, externally the car would benefit from paint to make perfect.

Servicing has been performed by Paul Anderson and myself since my ownership. In 2016 I undertook a major service including:
- Timing belt change including rebuilt tensioner, new water pump, idler bearings, driver side cam gear, oil seals etc. Belt tension has since been checked by PA
- New alloy radiator, hoses and coolant
- New spark plugs, Beru leads, distributor caps and rotors
- New power steering hoses (Pirtek), reservoir and fluid
- Auto trans filter kit and oil
- Engine oil (high ZDDP) and filter
- Windscreen washer bottle removal and clean, new pumps, lines and valves in bonnet, headlight system distribution valve and washer outlet (front bumper removed to facilitate)
- Vacuum system check including replacement of a leaky vacuum distributor and face and foot vent actuator diaphragms
- Centre console and instrument binnacle removal to clean and refurb where necessary, e.g. replacement clock and interior temp sensor and facia, bulb replacement, cleaning of electrical contacts
- New sound system including Kenwood head unit (I still have the original Blaupunkt), door and rear speakers, speaker wiring and active sub-woofer that sits in the spare wheel space
- Flex plate release and crankshaft end float check
- New front springs and ride height adjusters
- New door window scrapers and motors
- Replacement condenser (pressure checked ok) – A/C doesn’t work and still needs to be serviced
Not a total list of jobs but some of the more involved. The car has not completed many miles since as I’ve been working abroad so is in good order. PA has previously undertaken work including replacing / refurbishing the ISV, knock sensors, crankcase vent hoses, shocks, fuel tank cradle, fuel lines, engine mountings, sump gasket, resealing the rear hatch screen, alternator, starter motor, 4-wheel alignment and general servicing amongst other things.
