[928uk] "Save Power - Service" warning message

I think your diagnosis is probably correct, but before you splash out a 
new battery, check the voltage when the engine is running to make sure 
the alternator is charging  the battery properly.
If it hadn't just been serviced, hopefully the flexplate/thrust bearing 
wear has just been checked.
