The American run rennlist is a wealth of info and links to how-to documents and 928 owners’ websites with technical info.

You could start here:

https://rennlist.com/how-tos/a/porsche-928-general-information-and-recommended-maintenance-intervals-378286

After that just type any 928 question you have, or 928 system you want to know about, into google and a rennlist thread all about it will be in the results somewhere!

(I dread to think how many hundreds – maybe thousand plus?! – of hours I have spent reading rennlist threads over my 22 years of 928 ownership!)

And of course there’s this list too 😊

There's stacks of technical information available online if you do some digging. The official workshop manual can be discovered quite easily and - although not the easiest thing to navigate - is surprisingly informative. You can also get the parts diagrams for individual years for download without having to go to the trouble of installing PET. Again, they're pretty good quality and essential (in conjunction with the WSM) to work out what bolts go where when you've forgotten.

Also bear in mind that, for the most part, it's still just a car and stuff works the same way that everything else does. The only frustration I have had is that Porsche appear to change things a lot more frequently than more mainstream manufacturers do (I have a long history with BMW and it was a bit of a culture shock).

While I'm probably not really safe to be let loose in a garage with real tools and real intent, I am really interested in getting even a slightly better "fix" on what my 928 and 944 are all about and trying to work out what the experts use when they're trying to find out how things work, part numbers etc.

PET appears to be something referred to quite regularly and I'm sorta guessing that this is THE BIBLE and that it's either an on-line or downloadable resource; am I right?

My guess is also that it's also only really suitable for "experts" and I'm wondering if some of the downloadable .PDFs offered from various sources on the 'net might be a better starting point for this ageing, wannabee apprentice 😎

While video guides would always be my preference,, I'm also interested in any shortish written introductions to different the various operational systems which make ours cars what they are and which might just help me better understand some of the talk that goes on here 😲

Thanks as always for any wise words you can offer 👍🏼
