Hi Dan,
I’m told that Ken is the guy there that knows how to work on 928’s, is that right?

Hi Jonathan,
My car is at GT one too!
They told that yours is before mine.
I have been going there for years and they are really great with 928 so I’m sure they know what they are doing

Hi Howard,
The car is at GT One having the cambelt changed. The director there mentioned in a phone call that the technician had to use heat to get the crankshaft pulley off. Seems odd, as usually it’s the harmonic balancer that takes some time and wriggling to get free. I’m hoping it really was the pulley, ‘cos at least that’s further from the oil seal.

Do you mean the balancer or the nut that holds it? The nut is "only" 300Nm which shouldn't be a problem given the proper locking tool and a big enough bar. The pulleys and balancer normally just wiggle off. There's no taper or anything.

Guys, your views please: Is it reasonable to use heat to release the crankshaft pulley and/or harmonic balancer?
