[928uk] OT - Jump Leads charger Recommendation.

What's best really depends on how quickly you need to start it.
If you can wait a day or two, just reconnect the maintainer. If it can
supply 2 amps, 24 hrs will give you 48Ah which will be more than enough
to start the car as long is the battery holds most of what you pump into it.
If your maintainer won't charge a completely flat battery, (some won't),
best bet is to connect the flat battery to a good battery with jump
leads (no need to run the other car), leave connected for an hour or
two, then connect the maintainer and disconnect the jump leads.
If the battery has been totally flattened for a while, it might not recover.

You were right on one thing, that was rude. If you don't like something you read on the list, or have nothing relevant to add to the discussion, ignore it. The list has always been full of stuff that will only interest some people and not others.

So it’s annoying when another engineer criticises it and says it won’t work, particularly when they haven’t even seen or used the product themselves!

>> Jonathan. The trouble with engineers is they spent far too much time analysing and picking at data and not enough time actually accepting that whether things work in theory and practice are not always the same. These Noco devices are incredible and they do work irrespective of your data analysis. I have two to prove it.
>>
>> Up to 20 indeed might not mean 20. Unless there were lots of starts on small engines where the battery was not too flat.
>>
>> The cables are thick and even when I was cranking that big V-8 in the winter time they took the current just fine.
>>
>> There’s a guy in Alaska who has lots of big old V8s. Noco asked him to test a device and I think he started about five or six cars that had not been started for a very long time and had flat batteries and it was way below freezing in the Arctic. And he was being honest, not being paid to say they were good.
>> You can find this and other tests online
>>
>> Anyway forgive me for being what you probably think is rude, but I find it very boring when techies like you find fault with things or overcomplicate things unnecessarily because of their superior knowledge of engineering. I know many people agree with me on this. These Nocos are an example of a very good product that actually does work extremely well in practice. Why not accept that unless you have actually tried one yourself and proved otherwise?!
