[928uk] Anorak trivia - SE gearbox writing

I used this when I decoded my own GTS box.

The 55 relates to the 928 model being a GT, but oddly your SE and my GTS both have this 55, so the interpretation may not be entirely accurate.

1st = Gearbox type, G = manual gearbox
2nd & 3rd = Car model, 28 = 928
4th & 5th = More precise type, 55 = GT
6th = Blank
7th = Differential type
1 = open diff (M219)
2 = ZF 40% LSD (M220)
3 = PSD (M221)
8 = Model year, same as 10th digit in VIN, eg L = 1990

ABCDE = Serial number within year and gearbox type
first normal box in '90 and '91 was 00501
00001...00100 was reserved for testing
00301...00400 was reserved for special boxes

Cheers ,
Simon.
