[928uk] Taping wiring looms - was Fuse panel cover / passenger foot rear

Just a quick thought while we're on CE panel stuff. As our cars age, the
tape wound in a spiral around the wiring looms for each CE panel plug
degrades and loses its stickiness, causing it to fray and to unravel.

 

The answer to this is to re-wrap the looms using Tesa tape - fabric tape
with a slightly sticky adhesive on one side that is specifically made for
electrical wiring looms. Tesa tape is easily available in various widths and
lengths on ebay and other outlets. I redid my CE panel looms using the 19mm
width; a 15m reel might be enough for the job, but a 25m reel should ensure
you can finish it and tidy up some other wiring looms too :-)

Just to close off and for general info.

 

As Smiffy says the 'brackets' I was describing are actually hooks for the

carpet. Unfortunately the lakewell carpet is cut for (I presume) an S4 so

the slots in the carpet do not line up with the hooks. Will be easy to

reposition them given the cover is made from wood.

The top of the cover does indeed rest on a pair of brackets which have a

sloped face to match the angle of the cover once it's bolted into place.
