[928uk] S4 Door speaker covers/ speaker setup

Hi chaps,



I mentioned this to someone at Porsches On The Park but my '87 S4 has door speaker covers like the earlier models (the speakers aren't visible, just holes in the door card covering). Also, I only have speakers in the door and in the 'B' pillar. Every other S4 I've seen has had visible speakers, but then I noticed another S4 for sale (I think it was one that Vince Dallimore went to see up North somewhere that was rather optimistically priced), with the same setup. Does anyone have any more information regarding this? Did very early S4s come like this? Was there a speaker downgrade option? 



I'm looking to upgrade the speakers on mine as they don't sound great, but my car is currently away having a full glass out respray, so I thought I'd try and gather some information ahead of time.
