Thanks Steve - the first one you linked to looks identical to my set — two lower claws too to minimise chance of slipping off, and brace to provide er, belt and braces!

I once had a set just like the single column Smiffy mentioned, which I used specifically to compress springs on my Saab in situ. Subsequently I resold it which I shouldn’t have, as it was led fiddly to set up than the type with two compressors, and I could have used something to take tyres off without using local tyre place!
