Hi,

Neither my 91 or 94 had this fitted. I believe that this was largely a US requirement and I don’t think I have seen a UK car with one.

But, when the rear screen on my 94 had to be replaced undo my car insurance the only screens available from Porsche were the ones designed for the third brake light. The only difference is a black lined edging that usually only goes around the edge of the screen also goes where the third light is mounted to the screen, to hide the sticky fixing and to make the appearance neater.

I did buy a new third light to fit but never fitted it. The car wiring harness needs to be adapted slightly, and I was not even aware that the bulb monitor needed changing. Personally the third light looks like a bit of an afterthought by Porsche and I don’t intend fitting it, and I have just got used to the rear screen having the extra black outline on it.
