[928uk] proper 928 stuff!

My 91GT has exactly the same problem Richard - a worn bolster with a split in the leather.

I sent photos to several outfits and they all said the same, replacement of the panel would be £300 to £400, but it wouldn't match, so the whole seat would really need to be restored and recoloured after repair. But then it wouldn't match the tired-looking passenger seat, so both seats should be restored and recoloured. Cost approx £1400 +vat including the repair (£700 each seat). Trouble is, there's a risk that the original 35 year old leather might later split in a different place. So I investigated full recovering of both front seats. The estimates for full recovering of the seats with correct perforated leather centre panels ranged from £2000 + vat to £3200 + vat (Southbound).

I'm told that the deep 'cushions' on 928 sports seats make recovering them properly, without any saggy parts, rather tricky and time-consuming; hence the high prices.

I think my car needs a glass-out respray more than seats recovering, and it probably makes sense to have both done at the same time anyway, so I haven't bitten the bullet on the seats recovering yet.

Best regards,
Jonathan

Subject: [928uk] proper 928 stuff!

Away from all the unfortunate nausea that has been going on I have a 928
specific question.
My drivers seat has suffered from bolster wear since I bought the car in
2003 (Linen leather with green edging on a 1991 S4). I have had it
repaired an it seemd pretty good for the price, but unfortunately has
not lasted well. the colour has faded and I see the material is starting
to let go again so...
Time to have it recovered professionally.
Suggestions please. I have had a number of cars through and some have
had lovely work done o the leather interior. Unfortunately I have wied
out my database of names. Southbound are superb but 1. they have a very
long waiting list and they are expensive.
looking for a small dedicated outfit, if they are in Wilts it would be
even better.

Suggestions please!
Regards
Richard
