[928uk] Quarter of a Million Quid? 928SE

Yup, cars being written off is a great worry. I was side-swiped in my Elise S1 and I dare not take it to the insurers approved repairer as that would have been £8K+ and I feared it would be written off. We did the light paintwork required for £1,500……..and no rental car!
I do desperately try to keep my hobbies as a monetary-free zone……..it is never as simple as that but enjoyment and relaxation are what matter to me with my cars, not £s.

Agreed Justin. We want to enjoy our cars and most of us intend keeping our cars so the value is irrelevant. The great advantage for us of higher values is that our cars are far less likely to be written off in an accident.
928SE is a great number plate but the market is vey small. Some years ago I had the chance to buy the Baltic Blue GT with reg 928GT for about £20k - number plate included. I declined because I thought the price was too high at the time!

Well, we all like to make money but it is never why I own cars. I only own cars to enjoy driving them.
At the time I sold the prototype, there was only one taker and our businesses needed the money. All good.
When I sold my other SE in 2021, it was not easy but even after servicing etc…….and I think 30,000 miles added, I made a gain. All good. I had stopped using it as much so it was best it went elsewhere.
And I thoroughly enjoyed owning my 928’s (four in total) and after all costs (except petrol), I did not lose a penny on any of them.
It seems auction is the place to sell rarer 928 is all I can learn!

I will watch with interest but much as I like 928’s, there are plenty of other cars I would buy with £200K.

Justin

PS. 928SE number plate is on retention if of interest to anyone.

That’s easy Paul, I’m sure he will think he should have kept the car a bit longer. Last time Derek’s car sold it went for €280k. I’m guessing more this time but who knows. We all thought it was too expensive at £42k!!!
