I just want to make my car as good as it can be. Whether the work carried out is worth the expense based on the car's value is immaterial to me.
Cheers,
Andy

Thanks Andy,
I think the expectation of work on sills and possibly other metalwork is contributory to the approx. 200 hours estimated.
And as Phil and others have said the removal and refit of parts is very time-consuming.
Shame our cars aren't more valuable, as the cost would then seem more worthwhile.
Best regards,
Jonathan

I had one on my 87 S4 and ended up spending £16k. Most of this was because I needed new sills plus fabrication work. I also had a new windscreen as the original one was starting to delaminate.
Cheers,
Andy

when i did the SE i got a paintlress dent removal guy to go around it with
a fine tooth comb before it went to the paint shop.
a 90% saving in filler that the body shop would have used for all the tiny
imperfections.
and as Mike points out, the more you can take out yourself, the cheaper it
should be and the happier the body shop will be, as they will have to store
everything they remove somewhere, which is never easy in a busy body shop
.
+ take lots of pictures of it before it goes in, incase you find damage to
something so you then have proof it was not there before it went to the
body shop.
cheers
Phil
